A leafy kingdom brimming with adventure, Launnie is a perfectly sized city for kids. Here you can find places to spin, climb and slide, learn about bridges, boats and bushrangers, dwell in a magical fairy glen, ride a train through a park, explore outdoors, and see the dinosaurs.

Art Gallery at Royal Park

Museum at Inveresk

Glide among the stars in the Planetarium and experience the thrill of space with an incredible full-dome digital system. Choose your own adventure as you explore prehistoric dinosaurs and intriguing shipwrecks, learn about the Tasmanian Tiger and other animal species, and experience the latest exhibitions.

There's plenty to do at Inveresk, with hoops and ping-pong nets ready for use on-site too.

Cataract Gorge

Launnie's leafy heart, the Cataract Gorge, is just a 15-minute walk from the city centre. See native wildlife and peacocks, explore the reserve on accessible tracks or from the chairlift, and (in summer) make a splash in the pool.

Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre

Perfect for a day out with the family, the Launceston Leisure & Aquatic Centre has two heated indoor and outdoor beach-entry pools to paddle and play in, plus a thrilling 65-metre-long waterslide.

Budding gastronomes

Young foodies relish in the city's vibrant and diverse culinary landscape, where there's something to suit every kid's taste. They can tuck into burgers at Burger Junkie, squid rings at Reel Fish & Chips, or nachos at Tio Rico, just to name a few faves. For a sweet treat afterwards, there's Charlie's Dessert House, San Churro, 123 Yo! and much more.

Workshops and classes

Launnie has all sorts of hands-on arts and crafts workshops happening locally throughout the year, allowing kids to get creative and learn new skills. They can make a visual masterpiece at Frida's Sip n’ Paint and Paint the Town Red, get sewing at The Redress Hub and play with clay at Glazed and Confused.
