Raincoat Gallery
Temporary Art Space
Raincoat’s vision is to offer an exhibition venue that separates itself from a commercial gallery seeking high financial returns.
With the kind support of the Arcade’s owners and their agent, that vision has produced – through hard work and commitment – a lovingly restored new public area.
Situated in the heart of Launceston, close to cafes, restaurants and other local businesses, the hope is that this small gallery will help to inject a little of its spark and fruitful expectation to others around it.
By keeping costs to a minimum, Raincoat’s owners are able to pass on that saving to fellow fine artists in the community and welcome applications from any who would like to be considered for a 3-week exhibition opportunity.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
1. Anyone is welcome to drop in for a chat, sit-down, and the opportunity to simply take in spectacular local artwork
2. Local artwork is available for sale here
3. The gallery has converted a historical space into a vibrant, community-focused place
Raincoat Gallery sits upstairs in Launceston's Centreway Arcade. Open 10am – 2pm, Wednesday through to Friday. Viewing outside of hours can be arranged by appointment.
Raincoat’s Second Exhibition, featuring work by exceptional young local artist, Mel De Ruyter, and also including artworks by veterans like Troy Ruffles and Robert Ikin.
Official opening on August 10, 2024.
Location: 17, 19 Paterson Street, Launceston
