Leoni Duff Studio & Gallery
This hidden gem on the upper level of the Old Brisbane Arcade is a must-see
Located in the heart of Launceston, Leoni Duff Studio Gallery is a short walk up the stairs in one of the city’s oldest heritage buildings, in the historic Old Brisbane Arcade. Visitors to the gallery can immerse themselves in the timeless elegance of the setting while viewing an inspiring collection of realist art. The gallery features delicate and evocative watercolours by Rod Gardner, whose mastery of the medium brings a luminous, ethereal quality to his landscapes and still lifes. Chris Arnol, a classically trained artist, contributes both oil paintings and expressive charcoal drawings that reflect his training in the traditions of realism and his talent for capturing striking portraits and atmospheric scenes. Leoni Duff, a renowned oil painter and pastel artist, infuses her works with rich textures and dynamic compositions, creating vivid and emotive pieces. Jonathan Bowen, who specializes in pastels and charcoal, is celebrated for his broken colour technique, which brings a fresh and vibrant energy to his art.
WHY WE LOVE IT
1. The space is as beautiful as the exceptional art hanging on the walls
2. Leoni is often painting, allowing visitors to witness the creation of art alongside completed pieces
3. The studio periodically offers art courses for beginners
