Launceston Tramway Museum
The Museum started in the 1990s when a restoration society revived Launceston's last double bogie tram. In the Inveresk Precinct, close to the CBD, it has a workshop, a modern gallery, and tracks through the area.
Take a trip on the restored tram to relive Launceston's tram history. Inside, watch the city's oldest movie footage and learn about the tram's impact on the city. See the rebuilding of the first tram and discover unique stories, like one tram turned into a chook house.
Visit the Launceston Tramway Museum, where a dedicated community of over 50 volunteers are working to revive old trams. Experience an authentic 1930s tram ride, explore the gallery showcasing historic footage, and the interactive displays, but don't forget to peek into the original workshop to see ongoing restoration projects in action.
