Jess Teesdale MP
Federal Member for Bass
Jess Teesdale is a proud Tasmanian, born and raised in Launceston. She grew up in the north, went to school here, coached basketball here, and studied teaching here. There’s nowhere else she would want to call home.
Before entering Parliament, Jess worked as a teacher and community advocate. In the classroom, she helped students prepare for their future. In the community, she volunteered regularly, coaching basketball, teaching English to adults, and lending her time to organisations like Launceston Parkrun and the National Trust. These experiences deepened her commitment to public service and her conviction that every person deserves access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities close to home.
Now, as the Federal Member for Bass, Jess is focused on delivering practical solutions that make life better for people in Northern Tasmania. Labor is already delivering real outcomes, from the Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic to cheaper medicines and better pay for early childhood educators. Jess is working to build on that progress, fighting for secure local jobs, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, and strong public education for every community across the electorate. Jess believes in a community where no one is left behind and where every person has the opportunity to thrive, without needing to leave the place they love. She will always stand up for the people of Bass and work every day to deliver for the region she calls home.
