Hikarie
A Japanese pub for dinner dates, catch-ups, and cozy nights
Located in a hidden hole-in-the-wall on St John St, Hikarie is a Japanese izakaya (a pub serving small-plates and drinks). Hikarie is all about sharing tasty small plates, well-crafted cocktails, and good times. Dishes on offer include classic agemono like chicken katsu and lotus chips, grilled yakitori, and various fried tempura. For a heartier meal, add a bowl of udon or a rice bowl.
If you've walked passed Hikarie during the day, you might miss it as they are only open during weekend evenings and the occasional special lunch service. Bookings are recommended, as this intimate watering hole has limited seating. It is also located entirely on the ground level, making it an accessible venue for those with limited mobility and prams.
WHY WE LOVE THEM
1. You'll want to share this hidden gem with your foodie friends.
2. The authentic and refined menu of Japanese classic dishes.
3. The moody atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for date night.
