Making Space
Art Gallery at Royal Park | 25 November 2023 – 18 February 2024
Free entry
The practice of carving into any material is one of the earliest foundational skills of sculpture.
From the awe-inspiring figures of the renaissance to the satisfaction of carving a spoon or small animal, the practice of carving allows the carver to find magic in the art of subtraction and removal.
This exhibition will take visitors on a trip into this art form through works that display skill and artistry.
The exhibition features pieces from the QVMAG collection as well as examples of contemporary carving practice, that will leave you amazed at how raw materials can be transformed with simple tools and a lot of imagination.
