Lil Hong Kong
A taste of Hong Kong in Launnie
Lil Hong Kong brings the vibrant flavours, memories, and food culture of Hong Kong to the heart of Launceston. They serve freshly made Cantonese-style dishes, from classic stir-fries to comforting noodle and rice meals. Perfect for dine-in, takeaway or a casual meal with family and friends.
Owners Wilson and Bobo first met while studying cookery in Hong Kong. As Head Chef of Lil Hong Kong, Wilson brings over 10 years of professional kitchen experience, including roles in five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong. After moving to Australia, the couple gained further experience working at Melbourne's prestigious Italian eatery, Tipo 00. Before opening their own restaurant, they decided to leave the bustling capital city for a quieter lifestyle in Tassie.
Rather than focusing on fine dining, their goal is to bring authentic Hong Kong comfort food to Launceston. Some of their signature dishes include Baked Pork Chop Rice, Hong Kong-style French Toast, Handmade Prawn Spring Rolls, and Scallion Oil Chicken.
WHY WE LOVE THEM
1. Their menu is authentic and focused, but still offers plenty of variety.
2. The custom-made sweet drinks compliment the savoury dishes.
3. The open, yet cosy layout gives the dining experience a communal feel during busy lunch and dinner service, with the owners chatting easily with diners.
