About the Nepali Society of Northern Tasmania (NSNT)
NSNT is a non-profit community organization that aims to promote culture and language of Nepali origin. NSNT organises cultural festivals and entertainment events in Launceston and greater Launceston regions. They run campaigns like blood donation, domestic violence awareness, migrant rights and various other social awareness issues. NSNT also organises fund-raising campaigns for disaster relief in various misfortunate events in their home country.
NSNT are also conducting a Nepali language school for kids in Launceston.
We are living in one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse demographics. Coming from a different background can create challenges for any new migrant. To make a new place a home we need an inclusive society where people of various backgrounds can practice their cultural traditions. NSNT, as an organisation representing the Nepali community, aims to facilitate an easier transition for Nepali people by providing an inclusive environment.
The Nepali identity is important so NSNT stands firmly within their identity. They advocate for cultural legacy to be protected and promoted. They acknowledge their responsibility to transfer their cultural identity to the future generations. A key objective of NSNT is in fostering culture and language of the Nepali diaspora living around Launceston.
