Before heading home, we know a few places where you can find the perfect parting gift.
Read on to see our recommendations for where to purchase souvenirs and keepsakes in Launceston, with a focus on locally made items.
Red Parka is the creative business of Tasmanian artists Jennifer Cossins and Tracy Colhoun. It began in 2008 with a stall at a local market, followed by the opening of a Hobart storefront. In 2025, Red Parka expanded to the north of Tassie with the opening of a pop-up store here in Launceston. With a wide range of products that celebrate the unique flora and fauna of Australia, there are plenty of gifts that will delight visitors looking for a memorable Tassie item. The socks are a big hit, and we also love their wide range of children's books, stationary, and tea towels.
Red Parka is one of our go-to recommendations for where to purchase ethical, sustainable products that celebrate the unique nature of Tasmania. An added benefit of purchasing your souvenirs from Red Parka? They donate 50% of their profits to support causes that make the world a kinder place for people, animals and nature. If you missed your chance to shop at Red Parka during your visit, take a look at their online store.

Pearts Variety isn’t just a retail outlet, it’s part of the fabric of Launceston. The current owners have been at the helm for the last 20 years, but Pearts first opened its doors in the CBD in 1961. It has evolved over the years to carry a wide range of products, including art and craft supplies. But it's their impressively large selection of Tassie and Australian themed souvenir items that makes them a go-to stop for visitors, particularly if you plan to purchase for lots of friends and family.
While they may not focus exclusively on Tasmanian-made items, they carry such a wide range of items that it is easy to find something for visitors of every age. Some of the more popular items include t-shirts, tea towels, keychains, magnets, and more.

When visitors want to buy uniquely Tasmanian items, we always recommend they visit the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery gift shops. Located in two different areas of the city, one focusing on art and the other on science, each has their own gift shop with different and overlapping stock. Each carries a wide range of books, jewellery, toys, gemstones, games, postcards, and more. Many of the items available for purchase are made here in Tasmania, including the artisan crafted jewellery and pottery items. If you or your loved one wants to take home an enriching keepsake, grab a book from their gift shop. QVMAG has been publishing scientific records, occasional papers, exhibition catalogues and books since 1905.
No matter what you purchase here, every sale helps support the QVMAG. If you've already made a visit to the museums or left town before you had a chance to peruse the gift shop, you can also make purchases directly from their online store.
