  • A vibrant start to 2025!

Hello to all of our wonderful businesses,

February is here, and we're diving straight into another exciting month in the city!

Super Sale Saturday, the refresh!

Super Sale Saturday is just around the corner, and this year, we’re giving it a revamp! In past years, the event has been quite focused on storewide discounts and special offers. While this approach works for some businesses, we’ve also heard from many of you that discounts alone don’t always bring the right kind of engagement. That’s why, this year, we’re putting the super into the fun — not just the deals!

We still encourage businesses to take advantage of the day by running promotions, sales, or specials, but we’re also looking at how to make each business shine in its own way. Think of Super Sale Saturday as a platform to showcase your store, engage your ideal customers, and create a memorable experience that keeps people coming back.

Get creative with in-store activations that highlight what makes your business unique. Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration:

  • Set up a ping pong table and run mini tournaments throughout the day, or offer a prize to the fastest puzzle solver in a bookstore.
  • If you sell homewares, why not run a mini styling session? Clothing stores could host a ‘find your perfect fit’ workshop.
  • Bring in a local artist for a live painting session, a chef for a cooking demo, or a stylist for a fashion Q&A.
  • Consider free gift wrapping, complimentary samples, or exclusive giveaways for shoppers who visit your store.

Our goal is to help you attract your target audience and create a buzz in the city that goes beyond just discounts. Super Sale Saturday will bring the crowds into the city, but what will make them step inside your store?

Megan will be making the rounds to chat with you about ideas, so if you have a fun concept (or need help coming up with one), reach out at [email protected]. Let’s work together to make this year’s event bigger, better, and more engaging than ever!

Launnie Longstanders campaign

We’re launching a new campaign to celebrate businesses that have been part of our CBD for over a decade!

For the past few years, our In Good Company series has introduced the faces behind Launceston’s small businesses, sharing their journeys, passions, and the people behind the counter. We will continue this series, bringing you more in-depth interviews with local business owners and their teams.

Alongside In Good Company, we’re now introducing a new way to recognise businesses that have been serving Launnie for the long haul. We’re in the process of starting interviews now, with the aim of reaching every business in the 10+ Club. It’s been an incredibly moving experience hearing the stories of these long-standing businesses, and this will be an ongoing project that continues to evolve over time.

While the interviews roll out, we’re also working on a dedicated section on our website where these businesses will be listed in one handy place, as well as creating window decals for them to proudly display. We can’t wait to share these stories with the community and celebrate the businesses that have helped shape our city. Even with our deep knowledge of the city, we’ve been amazed by just how many businesses belong to this 10+ Club! We know this campaign will resonate with locals, and we’re excited to use it as another platform to encourage shopping locally and celebrating the businesses that have stood the test of time.

If your business has been in the CBD for over 10 years and you’d like to be included, get in touch with Briony at [email protected], we’d love to hear your story!

A vibrant start to 2025

It’s been fantastic to see so many businesses refreshing their shopfronts with a fresh coat of paint over the past few months! These small updates add so much vibrancy to the city, making our streets look extra beautiful and inviting.

For those who have attended stakeholder sessions with Louise Grimmer, you’ll know this is always one of her top tips — people love to visit stores that look great! Whether it’s a fresh paint job, some greenery, or fun décor, those little touches can make a big impact in attracting customers and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Keep up the great work in making Launceston shine!

We’ve also loved seeing people making the most of George Street’s parklets, soaking up the summer sun and enjoying everything our city has to offer. As we settle into 2025, we’re looking ahead at more ways to support businesses and drive activity. Keep an eye out for exciting new collaborations, marketing opportunities, and activations throughout the year!
