The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time | Launceston Players
Christopher Boone is an extraordinary thinker. He is exceptional at maths and observes things that nobody else sees, but everyday life is a little trickier. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his street, he detests being touched and he is wary of strangers.
Now, Christopher is in the front yard of his house, it is seven minutes to midnight and Mrs Shears’ dog, Wellington, is lying dead at his feet, killed with a garden fork. Christopher fears that he will be the chief suspect. So who can solve the mystery of Wellington? Nobody but Christopher, and what he uncovers takes him on a journey that even he could not have predicted.
The play is Christopher's account of his own investigation, and the story seen through his own eyes. But as he gets closer to the truth, he begins to investigate the personal mysteries within his family, and of society. Christopher sees the world only in black-and-white, but through his ultra-rational and sensitive brain, we experience the spectrum of the boy's vibrant and vital mind. The play is an enlightening peep into Christopher’s mysterious world .
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is partly a detective story, partly a family drama, and partly an adventure. It is funny and captivating, with a few surprises along the way.
